Ideas for finding out who in a group can volunteer
I did the following at Brum Bi Group in Feb 09 and people seemed to really like it. It was a small turnout but felt very positive and constructive. Quieter people got to have their voice heard.
- Discuss stuff that involves volunteering from huge BiCon size events to smaller ones. Discuss how people get into activism, where one started, things one did, tips and things you liked and things you didn't like.
- Ask folk in a group to fill in a 1/4 side of A4 with a few things they like doing, and a few things that they do not like doing.
- Collect a couple of these for your group members and it is easy to see what a group of 4 or more people could start to do.
- Great way to give confidence without giving people the wrong thing.
- Ask if these short lists can be put in shared group space (online maybe?) so that others can see what others like.
